History:
2004 – Operating my own business, Brian L. Gares Business Consultants
providing bookkeeping, accounting, administrative services, business advice and comptroller assistance to various clients on a contract basis, and during that period also lectured on Entertainment Financial Accounting, I and II, Tax Law and Business Structure and teaching in all areas of business related classes including Microsoft Office Specialist Certification, General Accounting, Bookkeeping, Simply Accounting and Quick Books beginner and advanced, Canadian Payroll Association certification classes and Business Communications and Procedures.

Also employed in 2009 by a large printing company as Accounting Manager, responsible for all accounting functions, comptroller functions, payroll, staffing, management reporting, budgeting and implementation. Brought business to a profitable position. Assisted owner finding a purchaser for the business in due course.

2002 – 2003 5 month contract installing and setting up state-of -the-art ACC PAC for Windows accounting software system for local company, all modules, including inventory and order entry, full deployment of the program as a web-based service, and training of all staff, setting up inventory system and conversion and entry of existing data, co-ordinating the software with company’s existing in-house sales software, creation of systems and procedures manuals. Also running my own business providing administrative, bookkeeping and accounting functions and advice.

2002 Administrative Assistant, Wardhill Equipment Ltd., self-employed consultant until business was sold.

2001 – 2002 Comptroller at Wavefire Technologies Corporation. Duties included all accounting functions, preparation of financial statements, public documents and filings, spreadsheet analysis, job costing, a/r and a/p, payroll and management of staff

1994 – 2001 Comptroller at Todays Carpets Ltd., Kelowna, B.C. Duties included bookkeeping and accounting to preparation of full financial statements using AccPac Plus, audit, pricing, accounts payable and receivable and collections. Full line of administrative duties including supervision of sales staff, advertising and promotion, banking, accounting for taxes and payroll, daily opening and closing of the business,
sales of floorcoverings and ceramic tile, including dealing with customers, take-off of plans, measurement, ordering, supervision of installation and ensuring customer satisfaction. Dealing with customer concerns and problem solving.

1995 Lecturer at Sprott-Shaw College in Kelowna, B.C. teaching adult students basic bookkeeping, advanced bookkeeping and basic accounting.

1993 – 1994 Facilitator, Academy of Learning, Saskatoon, Sask.
